New Sod

Landscape Maintenance Lemont IL

Note: Do not allow water to over spray onto other plants!

Water heavily immediately upon installation. Water so as to overlap watered sections. Whenever you move a sprinkler be sure to water the corners and lot edges extra heavy, as these areas are the first to dry out and possibly die. Move the sprinklers every 30 minutes hitting each section 3 times the first day and water as follows until the sod is completely rooted (approximately 3 weeks). Keep foot traffic to a minimum on new sod.

Week 1: Water 3 times a day hitting each section for 30 minutes

Week 2: Water 2 times a day hitting each section for 30 minutes

Week 3: Water once a day hitting each section for 30 minutes

After Rooted: Once a week, water heavily, one hour each section (approximately 2" of water)

Cut the lawn 2 1/2" to 3" high after the sod has been down for 10 days. Don't water the 9th day so the ground will be firm enough to cut lawn with push mower. Do not use a rider until after 5-6 weeks. Water heavily immediately after cutting.
